About Us

Banjospitz dogs live with, and are cared for and much loved by, Brian Crump and Dr Steven Berveling in Newtown, Sydney. Australia. The dogs have free run of both house and yard as well as an extended run in a local off leash area every day.

These are very special companion and show animals and enjoy many of life’s luxuries in the inner city, such as excellent opportunities for socialisation and ready access to the very finest of health care.

We have demonstrated that it is possible to combine both companion animals with a successful show career. We are particularly pleased that two of our home-bred bitches achieved Best of Breed at the Sydney and Melbourne Royal shows in 2006 and Canberra 2007. They are Australian Champion Banjospitz Southern Lite at Sydney Royal Easter Show and Australian Champion Banjospitz Southern Bea at the Royal Melbourne & Canberra Shows.

We are registered with the Royal New South Wales Canine Council for breeding and showing and follow ethical principles in selection of healthy and appropriate breeding stock. All breeding animals are first health screened for hereditary issues and cleared before breeding commences.

We began with Clancy, our first German Spitz (Mittel) in the early 1990s but it was not until Banjo was nearly two years old that showing became a serious endeavour. We have named our kennels after him – Australian Champion Atetak Hi Handsome. He was joined by Quilpie – Australian Champion Nueboree Southern Myst in 1999 and from that point on, showing became a priority. Quilpie still succeeds in winning classes in group and impresses judges with her excellent conformation and happy nature.

We are now on our third generation of German Spitz and are very proud of Olga with her many wins, and of Lilly with her natural ability at agility. In 2010 we plan to have our next litter and fully expect the new pups will continue the success.

We invite you to browse our pages and contact us by email if you would like further information about our dogs or German Spitz (Mittel) in general.
